All About Me~Autobiography

Hi Everyone!

My name is Tonya. I'm a single mom of three great boys- Zach 16 (almost 17), Josh 14 and Logan 12 (almost 13). They attend North Powder Charter School, where I also attended from 1st grade through graduation. We love sports and all the boys participate in football & wrestling.

Now on to me. This is my first attempt at college. After graduating Valedictorian I opted to start a life as a wife and eventually a mother. My choice not to continue my education was based mostly on fear and secondly not wanting to create a financial burden on my parents or myself. I also wasn't really sure what I wanted to do and thought I needed to be certain of the direction I wanted to take prior to a large financial commitment. Well, it took 20 years for me to figure that out, but here I am!

In my free time I love hunting, hiking, camping, fishing-basically anything outdoors. This summer was I able to hike into 4 high mountain lakes and see a lot of beautiful areas & things I never before experienced-even though I've lived here my whole life. My boys and I were fortunate to draw tags to hunt deer & elk, so we're looking forward to that also.

My choice for a degree is Liberal Studies with 2 minors: Psychology & IWR. My goal is to write for hunting/outdoor publications and eventually write a novel.

My reading experience has been nearly all commercial fiction. I've always loved to read and prefer a good book to TV anytime. I particularly love Stephen King. The amount of detail as well as the darkness of his novels has always intrigued me. I mean, where does he come up with that stuff?! Recently I started reading autobiographies and enjoyed reading Aron Ralston's story very much. The courage, strength and determination he displayed is absolutely amazing & inspiring.

Since enrolling in this course, I have, of course, had the opportunity to read stories I would not have necessarily chosen for myself. I have found I enjoy them very much and enjoy learning about the authors and their advice and thoughts on writing. I'm looking forward to opening my reading experience to new areas.
